PRESS RELEASE: Dance music pioneers, brothers and New York graffiti legends - on one 12” record

As DJs Frankie Bones and Adam X, brothers Frank and Adam Mitchell introduced rave culture to the New York area in the early 1990s. Both producers boast impressive discographies that stretch for three decades, but not everyone knows that Frankie and Adam also share an illustrous – some would say notorious – history as graffiti writers. With the vinyl-only Ruyzdael release All Out Kings, both sides of the Mitchell brothers’ history come to together for the first time.

In 2019, Ruyzdael Music in Amsterdam released Writers on Wax Volume 1, a compilation LP of previously unreleased music produced by an international group of artists, each of whom leading a double life as a graffiti artist. Frankie Bones’ and Adam X’s unique biographies are such a great fit for the concept that it deserves its own record in the Writers on Wax series. With Adam appearing under his tag name VEN, both brothers contribute one track to All Out Kings, which is named after Adam’s old graffiti crew and also features former member PURE.

Frankie Bones, Adam X and PURE started writing graffiti in New York City as teenagers in the first half of the 1980s. Read the whole story, as told by Adam X, on the ruyzdael.com website.
