MONOMANIA

How can we break out of repetitive patterns? Artist Ferry van Zijderveld (also known as UNDOG) tries to explore the answers to this question with MONOMANIA, an extensive project that goes deeper into the practice and (dis)comfort of repetitive art. Van Zijderveld made one thousand spraypainted crosses as manifestations of reclaiming the lost space in repetitive restrictions. In doing so, he brings together his background in design, branding and street culture by rediscovering and reinterpreting the surface and seeing what’s left of it. 

The book shows each individual cross painted, photographed and printed on high quality paper. An introduction text by Nov York a.k.a. Dumar Brown, a Brooklyn, New York based writer.
